It is the vision of the Brookfield Early Childhood Centre to create an early childhood education and care setting where all children, families and educators feel safe, valued and respected in an inclusive learning community providing every opportunity to reach their full potential.
We believe the rights of the child are paramount.
At Brookfield Early Childhood Centre, we provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, grow, explore and discover. We feel it is essential to respect and treat all children as individuals with distinct emotional, learning and behavioural strengths and needs. Our educators will take time to ensure your child's self-esteem is nurtured, and will provide a calm, relaxed environment to enable your child to grow at their own pace.
Reflecting the National Quality Standard’s commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Brookfield Early Childhood Centre will strive to protect children from harm, respect their dignity and privacy, and safeguard and promote every child’s wellbeing.
We believe that children are confident, competent and resourceful learners who are capable of constructing their own knowledge of the world around them.
At Brookfield Early Childhood Centre, we believe that children learn best through an integrated emergent “child centred” curriculum, and our curriculum is child focused and interest based, with an emphasis on open ended, natural elements. This curriculum is created through children’s ideas and interests, families’ aspirations, links to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and current research and theories. We believe that all learning areas, including but not limited to, literacy, numeracy, information communication technologies, sciences and the arts should form the basis of everyday, play based learning experiences in a variety of different contexts.
We acknowledge that young children are powerful, resourceful, imaginative, creative, and enthusiastic learners, and bring with them a strong ability to control their own learning. We embrace the concept of each child’s agency, and that young children can largely direct their own learning as they explore and discover through independent and collaborative play.
We aim to build relationships that support children to:
§ Feel a sense of belonging and wellbeing;
§ See themselves as constructive contributors to the community;
§ See themselves as valued, unique and powerful; and
§ Respect and care for each other and the environment.
We believe in equity, inclusion and diversity.
We believe that all children should be treated with equality, and their cultural and linguistic diversity embraced and acknowledged.Educators will model inclusive practices and engender an atmosphere of acceptance between all, deterring biased or unfair behaviour. All children enrolled at the Service will have access to the facilities and programs available, and the integration of children with additional and diverse lifestyles will be supported. Our curriculum is inclusive of children with additional needs, and every child will be supported to participate in the program. Learning and plans will reflect the individual child's needs, and where appropriate, resource and support workers will be utilised.
We believe in embracing and valuing the richness and diversity of our Australian society and surrounding community.
We have a genuine regard for all children and their language, culture and achievements. The family is valued and their diverse backgrounds are accepted, empowered, challenged, and reflected in our curriculum through anti-bias education. All children and their families at Brookfield Early Childhood Centre will feel valued and respected for who they are. Educators will provide your child with opportunities to participate in experiences that will increase their awareness and appreciation of Australia’s diversity and cultural heritage. Educators will create an environment that actively encourages children to have a positive attitude towards, and respect for diversity, including the different backgrounds and abilities of others. We believe that all children should be viewed in a balanced way as individuals with many abilities, competencies and interests, as well as needs.
Brookfield Early Childhood Centre is proud to hold a unique presence within the local community. We believe that early education and care are interwoven, and founded on relationships, strengthened by families and educators, sharing responsibility and collaborating with a global community. We are part of a community that nurtures, supports, challenges, and celebrates with children in their life journey. A community is rich when they hold strong alliances between children, families, our team, and the natural environment.
We believe that the role of parents and families should be respected and supported.
We recognise that parents are the primary influence in children's lives, and therefore strive to develop closelinks with the home and family. Families are encouraged to share their culture, language and home experiences with the Service. We strongly recognise the importance of family participation, and encourage open, positive and trusting relationships with parents. We support and encourage the interest and involvement of parents to share in decision making, contribute and feel part of their child's experience at the Service at all times.
Brookfield Early Childhood Centre recognises the importance of communication, and collaboration between families and educators, and works to form positive relationships. The Service supports families in their parenting role, and shares with them information of benefit to their child’s development. Through sharing cultures, ideas, knowledge, strengths and differences, a strong partnership is formed. Together we can support and complement each other in the important role of nurturing children through their formative, early childhood years.
We believe that every child and their family have the right to 'Excellence in Early Childhood Education’.
Qualityprograms in early childhood education and care settings encompass play-based learning activities, stimulating indoor and outdoor environments, secure and trusting relationships, and skilled educators. Our highly qualified and experienced early childhood educators aim to achieve excellence in their role as facilitators, role models and nurturers of young children's learning and development. We incorporate the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) into daily practices.
Educators are committed to lifelong learning and professional development in the early childhood education and care field. They meet on a regular basis to discuss issues arising at the Service, and also reflect on, and evaluate practices.
Brookfield Early Childhood Centre regularly observes, documents and evaluates all practices, to continually update and improve the quality of service and standard of care and early childhood education the Service provides.
