At this age, children are beginning to realise that the world no longer revolves around them as it did when they were younger. To them, life is becoming more complex and at times, a little overwhelming. Children of this age are trying to gain a sense of control over their actions, explore, be curious and test out their understanding of themselves, others and the world around them. In this room our educators engage them in a program designed to spark curiosity and drive their natural desire to explore, investigate and become involved in new experiences. In Learning Link, our educators implement individual programs incorporating the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to extend and enrich children’s learning. The framework assists educators in providing children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning. Fundamental to the framework is a view of children’s lives as characterised by belonging, being, and becoming. Children of this age are connected to their family, community, and culture. In this room, our educators believe that as children develop and participate in everyday life, they develop interests and construct their own identities and understandings of the world around them. At this age, children’s brains are constantly working and experiences offered will reflect the children’s interests which encourages learning to be meaningful, relevant, and most importantly, enjoyable.
